OTTAWA — Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is promising to introduce 10 days of paid sick leave for all federally-regulated employees within his first 100 days in government.
The Liberals would also immediately convene representatives at the provincial and territorial level to discuss legislating sick leave across the country.
The changes would require amendments to the Canada Labour Code and would allow employees to take sick days in increments at their choosing.
Trudeau made the promise in Winnipeg on day six of the election campaign.
This is a breaking news story… more to come.
He’s inside a grocery store for this announcement. First time a lengthy anno/Q&A is inside this week. Starts remarks talking about COVID spikes and the need to get vaccinated, “this pandemic isn’t over yet” Trudeau says. #elxn44 pic.twitter.com/Zi9uvurvsv
